Typical downward stance of the nuthatch family

Eurasian Nuthatch Unique in its feeding method which frequently involves climbing downwards on the boughs and trunks of trees in its search for insects hidden away in the crevices of the bark.  A woodland species best looked at Aldea Nova, Ludo, Fonte Ferrea, Fonte de Benémola, Rocha da Pena and Monchique. Call distinctive – an oft-repeated, loud chit chit.
