Dictionaries rarely make interesting reading, but
they can be quite indispensable, if they are up to date. This
dictionary is indeed up to date and very far from dull reading -
at least to those new to the subject of trout fishing and keen to
break through the jargon barrier.
That's exactly what Lesley Crawford sets out to do
in Trout Talk, and I think she has made a very good job of it. And
how nice to have full colour pictures - many evocative and all
very relevant - liberally sprinkled throughout the text!
As jargon busters go, this is a pretty good one; I
can recommend it to anyone struggling with the terminology of
flyfishing for trout and grayling as well as those interested in
the origins of flies and the many quirky aspects of tackle and
techniques involved in the sport of fishing.
