Allium ursinium - Ramsons

The first few flowers may appear towards the end of March or early April, but May and early June are when this striking flower is at its best.

Ramsons, or wild garlic

A plant that carpets woodland floors and roadsides in damp places, ramsons, or wild garlic as it is sometimes (correctly) called, advertises its presence by its strong smell. It grows from a bulb, and is a relative of the leek.

Wildflowers of Wales

This wildflower is one of many dozens that are featured in the First Nature Guide to the
Wonderful Wildflowers of Wales, Volume 1 - Woodland and Waysides.
