Anemone heidreichii - (Ranunculaceae)

Although these lovely wildflowers look so attractive, most species are poisonous.

This member of the Buttercup family (Ranunculaceae) grows in Karpathos, Crete and the Ionian islands. The flowers are white and sometimes flushed with pale pink. The reverse of the petals is bluish or pink. This wildflower blooms early - from January through April.
