Astericus maritimus (Odontospermum maritimus) - Yellow sea daisy

Astericus maritimus

Flowering from March until May in the Algarve, the European Mediterranean region and North Africa, this lovely sea daisy forms dense patches of colour along waysides and cliff-top paths. Its lush-looking dark green leaves seem at odds with the arid conditions in which the plant flourishes. This member of the asteraceae family of flowers is also known as Odontospermum maritimus.

This specimen was photographed in the Algarve in April.
