Bellardia trixago - Bellardia

Bellardia is a member of the Figwort family (Scrophulariaceae). It is an annual plant with an amazingly symetrical appearance having a pyramid-shaped, four-sided flower spike densly packed with two-lipped flowers that are white usually tinged with pink but sometimes with yellow. Bellardia favours grassy or sandy places which are slightly damp. It flowers from April to July.

This specimen was photographed in the Algarve, Portugal, in May.
