Circaea lutetiana - Enchanter's Nightshade

Damp, shady places are the preferred habitat of this attractive little wildflower. You are perhaps more likely to see enchanter's nightshade beside ditches and small streams running through deciduous woodland than beside large rivers prone to severe flooding.

This flower is very common in the Teifi Valley; the one in this picture was photographed beside the River Cych, the Teifi's largest tributary.
