Cotula coronopifolia - Buttonweed - (Asteraceae)

Cotula coronopifolia

This curious little flower is a native of south Africa but is naturalised in many parts of the world including the Mediterranean region, mainly in the western part. It flowers from April to July in salty and sandy places near the sea.

This wildflower is a member of the Daisy family (Asteraceae), and the specimen shown here was photographed in the Algarve in Portugal in May.
