Epilobium hirsutum - Great Willowherb
The great willowherb is
sometimes referred to as the Great Hairy Willowherb, and its seedpods burst to release
hairy parachutes to which the seeds are attached.

Often seen in large colonies along riverbanks and canal towpaths,
this is more a plant of chalky soil. Although still a common sight, great willowherb is
rather less abundant in Wales than is its close relative the Rosebay
Willowherb.
