Eupatorium cannabinum - Hemp Agrimony - (Asteraceae)

This tall perennial is very fond of marshy places, although you will also find it growing on waste land. It prefers chalk substrates. Despite its appearance at first glance, it is not in fact an umbellifer but a member of the daisy family.

The flowers vary from very pale pink to deep mauve and they are seen from July through to September. Hemp Agrimony is a very common plant and can be found throughout the UK, except in the far north, and in parts of Europe.
