The Cranesbill family (not to be confused with cultivated geraniums, which are really pelargoniums) includes herb robert and the various cranesbills and storksbills. |

The Primrose family includes wintergreen chickweed, scarlet pimpernel and creeping loosestrife (yellow pimpernel) as well as the more obvious cowslips, oxlips and primroses. |

The Rose family includes silverweed, strawberry, wood avens and tormentil as well as the more obvious dog rose of the hedgerow and burnet rose of coastal paths. |

The Buttercup family includes water crowfoot and marsh marigold as well as many species of meadow buttercups. |

The Pea family includes the gorse, broom, lupins, vetches, clovers and trefoils. |

The Mint family includes the various deadnettles, woundworts, wild thyme, self-heal and a great many more. |

The Pinks family includes several campion species as well as ragged robin and the stitchworts. |
