Hieracium aurantiacum - Fox and Cubs
This attractive member of the daisy family
is often grown in garden as well as occurring in the wild. Preferring well-drained soil,
these hawkweeds are often to be seen in great abundance on roadside slopes and railway
cuttings.

Other members of the hawkweed group include Common
Cat's-ear; there are also many hawkbits and hawksbeards, all of which have
dandelion-like flowers. The individual species can often be distinguished by careful study
of the leaves.
Wildflowers of Wales
This wildflower is one of many dozens that are featured in the First Nature Guide to the
Wonderful Wildflowers of Wales, Volume 1 - Woodland and Waysides.
