Common Gromwell is not as widespread as its name suggests and occurs mainly in the south of England and in southern parts of Wales and Ireland.
It grows on calcareous soils along the edge of woodlands and in scrubland.
The flowers are creamy-green and appear in clusters during June and July.
The specimen shown on this page was found in the Anglesey Fens National Nature Reserves in North Wales and was photographed in mid June.
