Meconopsis cambrica - Welsh Poppy - (Papaveraceae)

Despite its name the Welsh Poppy is widespread throughout the western part of the UK and also the eastern part of Ireland. It also occurs as a gardens escape elsewhere.

This hairless perennial poppy blooms from June to August. It is particularly fond of damp, shady places and is often found where woodland borders a river or stream.
