Medicago lupulina - Black medick

The medicks are members of the pea family, Leguminosae. This little flower is easily overlooked, because it often lies almost prostrate.

Black medick has tiny yellow florets with up to fifty flowers in each head. They can be seen blooming from April right through to October. Medick is often found on well-trodden paths beside rivers and lakes.
