Potentilla anserina - Silverweed
This creeping member of the rose family spreads by means of runners that root at leaf nodes. Its leaves are often silver on upper and lower surfaces early in the year, and the underside of the leaves often remains silver.
Silverweed loves damp places, and is often to be found on cliff walks or beside country lanes where the soil is heavy. The flowers, typically 2 cm across, first appear in May, and Silverweed can sometimes be found in bloom as late as September.
