Rosa canina - Dog Rose
Dog roses can be either self supporting or
climbers; the tallest specimens invariably use other plants for support. They make
wonderful displays in the hedgerows during June and July.

There are several other species of wild rose, including the white Field
Rose and the Burnet Rose. Briars, brambles, raspberries and cloudberries are close
relatives, while many other wild flowers belong to this family. Wild Strawberries, Wood Avens,
Tormentil, Hawthorn and Crab Apple are just a few examples.
Wildflowers of Wales
This wildflower is one of many dozens that are featured in the First Nature Guide to the
Wonderful Wildflowers of Wales, Volume 1 - Woodland and Waysides.
