Scilla bifolia - Alpine Squill

Alpine Squill is a perennial plant and a member of the Lily family (Liliaceae). It grows in scrubland, fields, meadows and grassland and is well distributed throughout the Mediterranean. Alpine Squill can be found in mountains in southern and central European countries, often right up to the snow line, and flowers from March until May.

This specimen was photographed in the Algarve region of southern Portugal in May.
