Silene uniflora - Sea
Campion
Sea Campion is a member of the pink family.
This low-growing species is sometimes mistaken for Bladder Campion, a taller plant with
greatly enlarged sepal tubes.

Sea Campion has single flowers or very few in a cluster, unlike other
campions which tend to produce many flower heads on one stem. The flowers are typically
1.5 to 2 cm across.
The Sea Campion in this picture was found on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path,
where it blooms from May to September. You will sometimes find Sea Campion growing among
the shingle just above the upper tidal limit on storm beaches.
Wildflowers of Wales
This wildflower is one of many dozens that are featured in the First Nature Guide to the
Wonderful Wildflowers of Wales, Volume 2 - Seashores and Coastal Cliffs.
