Vallisnaria spiralis - Tape-grass

These submerged weeds have leaves up to two metres long. The tiny flowers are green and have no petals, and so are rarely seen.

Tape-grass

Anglers sometimes refer to this weed as 'eel grass', but that name is correctly reserved for Zostera marina, a weed of the inshore waters.

Wildflowers of Wales

This wildflower is one of many dozens that are featured in the First Nature Guide to the
Wonderful Wildflowers of Wales, Volume 4 - Watersides and Wetlands.
