Enallagma cyathigerum - Common Blue Damsel

This is the damselfly that is seen most often on lakes and ponds in summer.

The male is shown here, while the female has a green-and-black body coluring.

Paired damselflies can be seen flitting over the water surface and dipping down to lay their eggs.
