Also known as the mountain ash, this lovely tree is often found beside upland streams and reservoirs.
The rowan is a member of the rose family. The flowers of the rowan are white, rather like those of the elder, and its orange berries provide a splash of colour from mid summer through to late autumn and occasionally into the new year.
