Pied Flycatcher - Ficedula hypoleuca

.Pied Flycatcher1

Adult male in breeding plumage

The Pied Flycatcher is a common migrant, more numerous in autumn than spring. Males in black and white breeding plumage are very striking but with their post-breeding moult they become hardly distinguishable from dull brown and white females and immatures. On migration, Pied Flycatchers appear largely to travel alone but at key migration points it is not unusual to find several in close proximity.
