Eurasian Jay - Garrulus glandarius

Eurasian Jay

Among Europe’s crows, only the Iberian Magpie comes anywhere near close to matching the brilliance of the Eurasian Jay.

There has been a noticeable increase in the population of Eurasian Jay in the Algarve in recent years. Its spread has even brought it to the edge of conurbations where, in Spring, it can be found searching large gardens for the nests (and the eggs and young) of smaller passerines.
