Spotted Flycatcher - Muscicapa striata

Pictures - John Foss

The Spotted Flycatcher is a Summer visitor to the Algarve, having travelled from its wintering grounds in Africa. These birds are most often seen perched in strategic positions in trees or shrubs, from which they dart out to capture small insects as they fly into range. The specimen shown on this page was photographed at Cabanas De Tavira.
