Despite a general decline in numbers in Europe the Glossy Ibis has recently established breeding colonies in Portugal and Southern Spain from which increasing numbers now winter in the Algarve, especially Lagoa dos Salgados. The specimens on this page were photographed in Quinta Do Lago (below)
