Hymenoptera - Bees, Wasps, Sawflies and Ants

Worldwide, there are at least 150,000 species in this huge order, and in Europe about 20,000 have so far been described with 50% being wasps. Bees are also plentiful, with at least 2000 species recorded in Europe, so it's hard to become an expert on these kinds of insects. We certainly are not, but we enjoy trying to find, photograph and identify those that turn up on our countryside walks.
